ZincNyx Energy Solutions is developing a range of energy storage products based on a novel zinc-air flow battery technology. A very substantial market for these products exists in utility, commercial, industrial, remote power generation and similar applications. With powerful backing and a committed nucleus ZincNyx is expanding its product development team to capitalize on this rare opportunity.

We are looking for the right candidate to fill our Senior Mechanical Engineer position based out of our beautiful Vancouver, BC office. The position is permanent, full time and will skyrocket the right candidate’s career!

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop mechanical designs at the system, subsystem and component level
  • Select mechanical, electro-mechanical and fluid system components
  • Collaborate with electro-chemical and Computational Fluid Dynamics modeling specialists
  • Analyze designs using 3D modeling and FEA
  • Prepare designs suitable for prototyping and/or high volume manufacturing processes
  • Propose and investigate cost-reduction strategies
  • Identify and test appropriate materials for long life performance
  • Provide SolidWorks models/drawings, using ASME Y14.5 standards
  • Prepare plans for functional, performance and lifetime testing
  • Prepare design documentation for internal and external customers

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10 or more years of industrial experience in mechanical design in a related field
  • Experience with prototype development and testing
  • Experience with new product introduction and transition to volume manufacturing
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Experience in stress analysis, thermal analysis and fluid dynamics
  • Must be fluent in English with excellent communication skills

  • Experience with transporting solids in fluids
  • Experience with electro-chemical products and processes
  • Experience in design for injection molding and die-casting processes
  • Experience in CFD
  • Experience working with and designing for hazardous chemicals
  • Experience with metal fabrication and structural design
  • Experience using shop tools and in-house fabrication
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, fluidic, and thermal components and systems
  • Experience in selecting and managing external suppliers and subcontractors
